Elected Fellow (10-Social and Economic Sciences), The World Academy of Sciences, 2018, for having demonstrated best practice in test translation and adaptation; raised awareness on indigenous constructs of personality; pioneered the adoption of the combined emic-etic approach to develop culturally relevant personality assessment; established evidence-based gender studies in Chinese societies.

Silver Bauhinia Star Award, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, 2016, for her long and distinguished public and community service, particularly her significant contributions to the promotion of equal opportunities and elimination of discrimination, as well as her exemplary academic achievements in psychology and her internationally renowned cross-cultural and gender studies.

International Association of Applied Psychology Award for Distinguished Scientific Contributions to International Advancement of Applied Psychology, 2014, for her leadership in developing and validating culturally relevant assessment tools, making a call to mainstream psychology to incorporate the voice of non-western cultures in their epistemology and training, and pioneering gender research in Chinese societies.

American Psychological Association Award for Distinguished Contributions to the International Advancement of Psychology, 2012, in recognition of her sustained and enduring contributions to international cooperation and to the advancement of knowledge of psychology.
