DCP is delighted to present a series of talks by local clinical psychologists, showcasing their unique skillset, expertise, and experiences across a diverse range of settings. Whether you are a seasoned professional or just starting out, we hope to inform and inspire how clinical psychology may contribute to society at large.
The DCP Professional Showcase Series is conducted by DCP members who are Clinical Psychologists in Accredited Register under the Department of Health.
All talks will be presented in Cantonese, and will be conducted in hybrid mode via Zoom and face-to-face at our HKPS workspace (Unit 1211, The Metropolis Tower, Hung Hom,Kowloon, Hong Kong).

Living with psychological flexibility as the most important mental health skill set Dr Anthony Tong

This talk will present the theory and practice of psychological flexibility as the most important skill set in mental health. Psychological flexibility is the target of intervention in acceptance and commitment therapy, and has six dimensions including cognitive defusion, experiential acceptance, contact with the present moment, self-as-context, values and committed action. On the other hand, psychological inflexibility as highlighted by fusion and avoidance is regarded as the major source of mental problems. |

The art and science behind child assessment Dr Becky Chan

Dr Becky Chan has dedicated her esteemed career in the psychological assessment of neurodevelopmental disorders and related problems and has witnessed the evolution of child assessment practices over the past four decades. In this talk, Dr Chan will highlight the unique contributions of clinical psychologists in supporting children's development, and will also share her experiences in overcoming the challenges of standardising overseas assessment tools locally, and developing localised assessment tools. |
