Q. Would being qualified for overseas psychological society .e.g.
BPS or APS, qualify for HKPS membership and, further, for registration as
psychologist in

Q Is programme or degree X recognized by HKPS?
A. No
programmes or degrees are recognized as such.
Q. Will HKPS rule on recognition of
programmes on the
basis of official information?
A. Yes, if there is a firm degree
structure. No , if there are options.
Q.
Does HKPS have a list of approved programmes
A.
No – you
can never be sure that changes have not been made
after the approval. Fresh evidence is required for each application.
Q.
May a holder of a general degree (non honours) in
Psychology become a member?
A If the holder comes from a
University, frequently in
Honours and Pass
degrees, only Honours degrees are accepted. Four year degrees from
Q.
Should originals of documents be sent?
A As clearly stated in the
information sheet, only copies should be sent
Q. The applicant is unable to find a
Proposer or Seconder
A.
As the General Indormation sheet states, the applicant should invite the
help of the
General Secretary.
Q.
When is the date of the next meeting considering Membership?
A.
There
are no dates fixed in advance, the applicant should write to apply as soon as
possible

An intending applicant is informed that he/she has
just missed the last meeting.and would like the application to be considered as
an urgent case.

The Committee/Council do not consider applications
outside the meetings

How can one be upgraded to Associate .Fellow?
A.
Write to the General .Secretary as in the case of
application.
. Q. An Associate Fellow wishes to become a
Fellow.
A.
Nominations to Fellowship will be considered at the
Annual Fellows’ Meeting, normally to be held in January of each year.
Q.
An Affiliate obtains degree .and wishes to become a
Member.
A.
The Affiliate should apply in normal fashion,
completing an Application Form , a CV
etc.
Q.
Is it possible to apply for membership of a division
only?
A.
It is not possible –only members of the Society can
become members of the divisions.
Q.
How does one apply to become a Registered
Psychologist?
A.
By writing to the Registrar as stated in the General
Information sheet

What Documents are needed in support of a letter of
application for Affiliateship?
A.
No specific documents are needed.
Q.. Can applicants be informed of
the outcome of the application before receiving the official letter?
A. The
applicant is advised to await written reply.
